Volkmar Aderhold, born 1954, MD, is a physician of psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic medicine, and a lecturer for systemic therapy and counseling (DGSF) Has been working in psychiatry since 1982, including 10 years as the senior physician at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf.
He currently works at the Institute for Social Psychiatry at the University of Greifswald, and is involved in developing good teaching practices of the Open Dialogue approach for use in in-house trainings of multiprofessional teams, which often include those who are “experts by experience.” He is also involved in counseling psychiatric organizations in their structural development. His publications include scientific reviews on the minimal use of antipsychotics, mortality and antipsychotics, and brain changes and antipsychotics.
